The Impact of COVID-19 on NCAA Eligibility

Most students who intend to play collegiate sports at the Division 1 or Division 2 level are aware there are specific requirements set by the NCAA they must meet to be eligible to practice and play.  Because of the changes in secondary education brought on by the COVID-19 virus, the NCAA has modified some of these requirements. These changes will affect the class of 2020, but also have implications for the classes of 2021, 2022 and 2023.  In a recent panel discussion Nick Sproul, Associate Director of Research for the NCAA and Matt Harris and Sarah Overpeck, of the NCAA Eligibility Center, outlined how these changes will impact students at different class levels.
